WINDERMERE, Florida (February 13, 2018) -- SPEED Lacrosse®, the pioneering new action sport founded by a team including American lacrosse superstar Casey Powell, today announced that it has appointed Wall Street investment executive Robert Minion as its first Chief Executive Officer to lead the company through its next phase of innovation and growth.
Since its inception in 2015, SPEED has been transforming the lacrosse experience for players of all ages and gender by reducing the barriers to entry and extending the playing life of those who love the sport.  Rooted in the traditions of box and field lacrosse, SPEED’s “½ x 10” philosophy  (10 times the touches in half the time) and the design of the game are specifically intended to increase engagement in fun and competitive ways.
“This is the perfect time for SPEED to welcome the talents of someone like Bob and I’m thrilled we were able to attract such an accomplished executive” said SPEED co-founder and board member Casey Powell. “The grass roots enthusiasm we have seen for SPEED Lacrosse® makes us appreciate that we are poised for explosive growth in terms of both players and investment.  Bob’s deep understanding of finance and the business of sports position him perfectly for this unique role.  Coupled with the development and release of our online Player Passport system, SPEED has a massive opportunity to realize our vision of bringing our sport to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere™”
A graduate of Fairfield University with a degree in Business Management, Bob comes to SPEED Lacrosse® with over 30 years experience on Wall Street in the Corporate Bond and Credit Derivative markets.  He is a long time lacrosse enthusiast as a player, a youth coach in Darien, Connecticut and as an investor in the SoNo Fieldhouse, Connecticut’s premier lacrosse training facility.
“I’m excited to join SPEED at this pivotal time in the company’s history,” said Minion. “As I’ve gotten to know SPEED and experience first hand the enthusiasm it generates among players, parents and sponsors, I am confident we are poised to grow our enthusiastic base of stakeholders very quickly, making for an incredible future at SPEED Lacrosse®.”
