Rochester, NY – This past weekend, Sweetlax 2021/2022 & 2023/2024 teams attended the Fusion Winter Classic in Lansdale, PA at the XL Sports Campus. In the second year with box lacrosse, Sweetlax walked away from the tournament weekend with 2 Championship trophies, undefeated teams and a weekend of memories.

The 2023/2024 team went undefeated for the weekend, starting off strong on Saturday with wins versus two historically strong club programs. Sunday morning was a real test for the teams going up against Team 91 and pulling ahead with a one goal win. In the Championship game, Sweetlax was led by strong goaltending from Braxtin Miller and offensive play of Thomas Gravino and Jameison Bucktooth. While man-down for a part of the game, Sweetlax got strong defensive play from CJ Palmerie and Sam Gotham. Throughout the tournament, Sweetlax saw sizable contributions on both sides of the field from Arrow Booth, Pax Marshall and Tehorahkwaneken Albany.

The 2021/2022 team also went undefeated on the weekend. Starting off a strong Saturday with 3 wins, the boys played a close game with Superstar (CT) and then blow out wins versus the other two. On Sunday, Sweetlax won a very close semi-final and then a last-minute win in the Championship. The game winning goal was scored by Harrison Cross, on a well-placed shot that pinged the pipe and went in. With 5 seconds remaining after that goal, Grant Crossley, 2022 goalie, made a 1-on-1 save on a breakaway to seal the win. Sweetlax saw big contributions from Owen Spring, Yavin Stefano and Max Ettinghausen, who scored the goal of the weekend on a behind the back goal in the semi's. Sweetlax also saw strong defensive play from Griffin Scane, and Kenny Forbes.

The teams have been practicing for the past 6 weeks on Wednesday nights at Your Sports Depot in Macedon (6 practices remain with roster spots still available). Many of the teams faced at the tournament have been practicing since September and this was their 3rd or 4th tournament of the season.
